As the FACTO conference kicks off, it’s time to ask: can corporate real estate go beyond facilities management? At Blossity, we’ve been redefining CRE through Corporate Urbanism—creating lasting impact from the campus out into our cities.
From Calimero complex to Corporate Urbanism.
As the FACTO conference kicks off today, it feels like the perfect moment to share a thought that’s been on my mind for a while.
Through my work at Blossity, I have a unique view into large corporations, collaborating closely with senior real estate leaders. One pattern I keep noticing—and discussing with peers—is how corporate real estate (CRE) remains so narrowly focused on facilities management. The goal? Curating a great workplace experience… but what does that really mean?
Too often, CRE is stuck in the operational reality of office interiors. Yes, food & beverage should be great, cleaning should be spotless, and desk policies well-maintained in a well-designed space. But are these CRE functions relegating themselves to a service role and risk becoming the Calimero of the C-suite?* Their alignment can’t just be limited to return-to-office policies with HR and the works council… right?
I believe corporate real estate has untapped potential beyond office walls and between buildings on campus! Over the last decade, we’ve been pushing boundaries with amazing clients across Europe, transitioning from corporate real estate to Corporate Urbanism. That means more vision, stronger integration, and greater impact!
The opportunities are endless: Aligning campus strategy with talent attraction campaigns alongside HR, Driving the “social” in ESG, with community impact teams, Rethinking offices as consumer touchpoints, especially on quieter days.
Through Corporate Urbanism, we can create lasting waves of impact in our cities and communities—starting from the campus, inside out! ✨
